With over 30 speakers, 200 presentations, and more than 20 activities, it will be 3 days of learning, networking, and innovation!
The Brazilian Cytogenetics Meeting is a biennial event that began in 2009 to create a dedicated space for updates in one of the most important areas of Genetics. With the progress of Molecular Cytogenetics, the event was renamed the Brazilian Cytogenetics and Cytogenomics Meeting (RBCC). The event follows a global trend of specialized scientific meetings that foster closer contact among researchers, enabling collaboration and stronger professional connections.
The event is a milestone in the development of this subfield in Brazil. Since its first edition, it has expanded collaborative networks among research groups and centers of high international relevance. In plant and animal cytogenetics, chromosome studies play a crucial role in identifying new species and understanding evolutionary relationships, while also helping detect potentially mutagenic agents and assess the impact of environmental stressors on genetic material.
Cytogenetics also contributes to understanding how chromosomal alterations can provide selective advantages and promote survival in challenging environments. In humans, cytogenetics uncovers the causes of rare diseases by identifying clinical conditions linked to chromosomal abnormalities. The RBCC trains students and professionals in this rapidly evolving field, ensuring excellence in both research and diagnostic services.
In 2025, Brasília will host the event, and we expect at least 500 participants, given the increasing attendance with each edition. This will strengthen academic and scientific exchange among researchers, students, and professionals from both the public and private sectors and promote the dissemination of research from across the country, contributing to the development of highly qualified professionals.
