MetScan is an innovative solution developed by Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI), designed to automate the identification of metaphases in cytogenetic samples. Integrated with the GenASIs platform, MetScan enhances laboratory efficiency by automatically locating the best metaphases for analysis, eliminating the need for manual searching and increasing productivity.
MetScan greatly improves workflow efficiency. It scans the entire slide, locating and capturing the best metaphases and storing their coordinates, so most of the time it finishes a slide in minutes. Additionally, MetScan is also applied to the High-Demand Automation Platform – Tray Loader, operating with 99 slides consecutively in a single load or in an infinite cycle with uninterrupted reloads, enabling laboratories to perform continuous 24/7 scanning and analysis.

MetScan performs a preliminary scan of the sample using the 10x objective. After locating the most promising metaphases, the system returns their coordinates to capture images with the immersion objective (100x). The images from both objectives are stored in the image gallery, which is integrated with the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
During the review, there is always the possibility to return exactly to the coordinates of each metaphase by simply clicking on its image in the Gallery.
In addition to automated capture, MetScan stands out for its ability to automatically calculate the percentage of the mitotic index present on the slide under analysis. This functionality allows laboratories and professionals in the field to obtain reliable quantitative data on cellular proliferative activity, optimizing workflow and directly contributing to more precise and well-founded diagnoses.
With MetScan, the mitotic analysis process becomes more standardized, reproducible, and less prone to human errors, enhancing the quality of results and the productivity of cytogenetics and pathology laboratories.
