The current educational landscape is rapidly changing thanks to technological advances. The introduction of wireless capabilities in science classrooms allows teachers to teach and students to learn in an engaging digital environment that promotes teamwork.
Equipped with the Olympus EP50 camera, which has WLAN capability, each microscope in a classroom becomes a wireless imaging system. Using its own WLAN signal\*, the 5-megapixel camera can stream high-resolution images and full HD videos to mobile devices or PCs and laptops with WLAN.
When a wired LAN is required, the Olympus EP50 camera can also be integrated into network infrastructures using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Users can control the EP50 camera through the free EPview app for mobile devices and Windows PC software, which offers annotation, measurement, image processing, and sharing functions. Additionally, the embedded imaging software allows control of the EP50 camera in standalone mode without the need for a computer or mobile device.
In combination with the user’s smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC, the Olympus EP50 color camera is a convenient and cost-effective solution for general teaching and training. Users can access the camera’s wireless adapter signal using a tablet or smartphone, or with a PC or laptop with WLAN running Windows 10, controlling the EP50 camera through the EPview software. The software interface allows simple and intuitive operation.
Up to six students can work simultaneously on a microscope equipped with the EP50 camera, discussing, learning about, and saving camera images. Larger groups of students can also connect their mobile devices to multiple microscopes equipped with EP50 cameras in LAN network environments.
The flexible camera control and viewing options offered by the complementary EPview software enhance interaction and collaboration possibilities:
